This week SLF will be in Bangladesh for the Inception Launch of the Leathertrace Bangladesh TCLP project, funded under the Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution Programme (SMEP). The programme is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The project aims to bring together various stakeholders in the Bangladesh tannery and product manufacturing sector to develop and pilot a digitised traceability system which supports a transition to more sustainable tannery practices. The University of Northampton is leading the project, in conjunction with partners including SERA Bangladesh, IdeaTree, University of Hertfordshire and Sustainable Leather Foundation.
