European Commission adopts the Delegated Act for EUDR that Removes cattle hides, skins and Leather from the Scope in Annex 1 of the EUDR.
On Monday 13th July 2026, the European Commission published a press release to confirm the adoption of the simplification recommendations of the Delegated Act of the EUDR.
The now published Delegated Act incorporates targeted amendments to the EUDR product scope, that removes cattle hides, skins and leather from scope. Cattle and beef from cattle remain in scope.
The Delegated Act now enters the final phase of a 2-month scrutiny period by the EU Parliament and Council that will end on 13th September 2026.

We recognise that this is the right decision by the European Commission as leather is not a direct driver of deforestation and does not hold leverage or influence to change farming and ranching mechanisms at scale. However, Sustainable Leather Foundation remains committed to the principal of halting illegal deforestation and over-deforestation of land legally. Traceability is a powerful tool in supporting these aims by continuing to ask the questions of origin through the upstream providers of our raw material.
