Our round up of this year’s APLF

The ILM Leather Symposium on Tuesday 11th March was a great kick off to the week in Hong Kong.

SLF’s presentation on strategic guidance for the implementation of EUDR was very well received by the delegates, with some excellent feedback about “how we took a complicated topic and made it understandable”.

On Thursday 13th March, we held our own Seminar on the Main Stage and were joined by David Wright of Tapestry, Katie Kutskill of Isitleather? and Stuart Cranfield of L2Seven Consulting as we discussed “Leather and the Consumer”.  We approached the topic from three perspectives, looking at the need for communication that goes directly to the consumer, how brands are responding to the ethical and regulatory need for transparent and robust communication, before focusing on how accreditation and assurance can support that communication.  Attendees received a copy of SLF’s Guide to Communication and a link to our Pathway Paper on the topic.

During the afternoon of the 13th March, our Managing Director, Deborah, participated in Global Footwear Executive Summit, on a panel moderated by Christine Anscombe and Satra, where we discussed the topic of whether compliance is a valuable tool or a necessary evil.  Another well attended event, with great feedback from the attendees.

We were pleased to have our auditors, Zain Akber and Junaid Ahmed with us on our stand, along with Stuart Cranfield who is working with us on our own accreditation process this year.  Thank you to all the visitors who came to our stand to discuss current topics and requirements with us. We enjoyed the opportunity that APLF gives us to meet each year.
